Andean Discoveries is a tour operator based in Cusco; One of our primary goals is to support the local community. We make sure to provide fair wages for all of our team and especially our cook, porters and horsemen.
Andean Discoveries was started in 2018 by Mario Tribeno , was born and grew up in the town of Ollantaytambo, Peru. I have lived in Cusco for the last twenty years and during that time, I worked as a guide for different travel agencies. Because of that, I had a lot of customers ask me where to go, how to get there, and what the best facilities are. I have tried to give them the benefit of my extensive knowledge about my country. I will take you to all the tourist attractions, as well as arrange traditional hikes as the serious trekkers’ alternative. I’ll show you the Andean Discoveries!!! I have handpicked the hotels, restaurants, shows and all the amenities in our adventure. Rest assured that you will have the time of your life. Just relax and leave all your worries to us.
Andean Discoveries works solely with local people, using them to facilitate our tours and thereby ensuring that money from tourism stays in the mountain communities where it can genuinely help to sustain a culture which has survived since Inca times. All our guides are experienced and knowledgeable English-speaking Peruvians; and the porters who help us on our hikes are local people who live in the mountains around the communities of Ollantaytambo.
Our company philosophy is to offer the freedom, flexibility, and mindset of independent travel whilst removing the hassle of traveling in a foreign country where you may not speak the language. Choosing to travel with us ensures the security and companionship of traveling with a small group of like-minded travelers, combined with extensive local expertise to provide unique opportunities to interact with the culture and environment. Peru has 28 of the 32 defined climates of the world, and of the 104 classified ‘zones of life’, 84 can be found within its borders. The majority of this diversity is found within the southeast region of the country, where the environment ranges from white water rafting rivers to high snowy peaks, and from sweltering jungles to the impressive Lake Titicaca. It is the sheer variety of environments contained within Peru which makes any trip both fascinating and magical. No trip to Peru would be complete without visiting Machu Picchu, the lost city of the Incas hidden high in the mountains near Cusco. Undoubtedly the best way to arrive at Machu Picchu is via the Inca Trail following in the footsteps of the Incas.
Andean Discoveries (AD) team is composed of enthusiastic, efficient and professional people, all experts in their area and willing to help you and make the most out of your visit to Cusco and Peru.

An adequate diet both in its quality and quantity is essential in high-energy consuming trips such as the adventure programs we run. Despite its short lifetime, has already become renowned for its outstanding menus and food quality. We do not have set menus since our cooks are essentially creative people who try to innovate and surprise our clients through delicious dishes on every trip. The agency provides the tools for a constant updating of our cooks’ knowledge on both Peruvian and international cuisine. Additionally, the cook manages the team of porters and /or horsemen. Every person has a role in the team and is very aware of his responsibility, and only excellent logistics will allow an outstanding trip. Our porters, horsemen, and cooks are an essential element of in any trek organization. Porters carry up to 20 kg of load according to the Inca Trail regulations, which we fully respect. In all treks other than the Inca Trail, wranglers are in charge of the horses or mules that carry the equipment. Peruvian Nature Adventures has also become renowned as being one of the very few agencies providing the best treatment of its porters. Our porters are not just numbers; they are our friends and part of our culture. We provide our team with excellent meals along the route, convenient accommodations, life insurance and, most importantly, a never delayed high wage that we believe they deserve. That is why you will be able to perceive the difference between our team and others; our people are happy, enthusiastic, extremely helpful, and simply exceptional. They are proud of working for Peruvian Nature Adventures and of their absolutely outstanding working performance. And we are also very proud of having them with us.
